Optical Illusions

For my optical illusion project in design, I decided to make an illusion called an anamorphic image. There are two different types of anamorphic imagery, mirror and perspective. In mirror anamorphosis, a cylindrical mirror is placed in front of a distorted image to project an undistorted image onto the mirror. In perspective anamorphosis, you can angle and move your body so that the image can be viewed clearly.
The first known perspective anamorphic imagery is depicted in Leonardo Da Vinci’s ‘Leonardo’s Eye.’ In the past, anamorphic stylings were used to conceal a secret image. Mirror anamorphosis is another form of anamorphic image and it has been used since the early sixteenth century. Vanishing point, line of sight, perception and horizon line all interact together to create anamorphic illusions. I think my favorite part of this project was brainstorming and experimenting with what exactly I wanted to do. I'm definitely most proud of how much time and effort went into this project. Although my effort isn't necessarily noticeable in my final result, I know that I put a lot of effort into it and that's what matters.
