Fried rice is important in Chinese cultures, as it's usually served as a side dish for other main dishes. Fried rice can contribute to meals in China, usually, no matter the meal. Leftover fried rice can be recooked and used as a dish for more than one meal, as well. In Chinese culture, they celebrate Chinese New Year, in which they partake in festivals and different activities. During this time, they eat foods that they believe will increase their enjoyment of life. They also give out red envelopes with money inside to children. Chinese wishing trees are made during the time, in which they write a wish down and place it on a tree for the wish to be granted. 2017 is the year of the fire rooster, and every year the animal rotates as well as the element. When we cooked fried rice, I was responsible for chopping up red pepper and putting fried rice in the pan. I don’t have any visuals, as my phone was dead when we were doing this. I enjoyed cooking with my classmates and working together as a team. The fried rice was excellent, and I believe we did an excellent job.
